As I read about the news of a US soldier detained in Russia, my initial reaction was a mix of disbelief and frustration. How could someone in their right mind, especially a service member, decide to travel to a country like Russia on their own, without any official business to attend to? It boggles my mind to think about the risks and consequences that come with such a reckless decision. The fact that this soldier was stationed in South Korea, a region already tense with geopolitical complexities, only adds another layer of absurdity to the situation.
