Disney+ terms prevent allergy death lawsuit, Disney says

Disney’s recent attempt to invoke its terms of use to prevent a lawsuit concerning a tragic allergy-related death is a blatant display of corporate greed and insensitivity. The fact that they would try to shield themselves from accountability in such a heart-wrenching situation is despicable. The argument that by merely signing up for Disney+ or purchasing theme park tickets, individuals waive their right to a jury trial is preposterous. It is a clear abuse of power and an attempt to evade responsibility.

The case of Dr. Kanokporn Tangsuan’s death due to severe allergies at a restaurant in Disney Springs, a third-party operated venue, is indeed tragic, but it is Disney’s response that is truly appalling.… Continue reading

US sues Photoshop maker Adobe for hiding fees, making it hard to cancel

As a long-time user of Adobe products, I have witnessed firsthand the shady practices and hidden fees that the company seems to thrive on. The recent news of the US government suing Adobe for making it difficult to cancel subscriptions doesn’t come as a surprise to me. In fact, I’ve had my fair share of frustrating experiences with Adobe’s cancellation process.

When I first signed up for what was advertised as a 1-month plan, I thought it would be easy to cancel anytime. However, I soon realized that by canceling before the month was up, I would have to pay the FULL TWO YEARS of Photoshop access that I apparently signed up for.… Continue reading

Major airlines sue Biden administration over fee disclosure rule

I believe that every business should be transparent and provide upfront disclosure of all fees to consumers. It’s only fair to know the total cost upfront before making a purchase. So, when I hear that major airlines are suing the Biden administration over a fee disclosure rule, it honestly makes my blood boil. Why are they so opposed to being open and honest about the fees associated with air travel?

The airline group’s argument that the rule would confuse consumers seems like a weak defense to me. If anything, consumers would appreciate knowing the true cost upfront rather than being hit with hidden fees later on.… Continue reading

California says restaurants must bake all of their add-on fees into menu prices

Living in California, the recent announcement that restaurants must now include all of their add-on fees into menu prices has sparked quite the debate among both consumers and restaurant owners. Some are thrilled with the transparency this new regulation brings, while others are wary of potential price increases and sticker shock. As for me, I fully support this move towards more upfront and honest pricing in the food industry.

For far too long, diners have been subjected to hidden fees, surcharges, and mandatory tips cleverly disguised at the bottom of menus in tiny font. It’s frustrating to think you’re paying one price only to be hit with a significantly higher bill at the end of your meal.… Continue reading
