Hegseth’s endorsement of Gallrein, who is running against Rep. Thomas Massie in Kentucky’s 4th Congressional District, has drawn criticism for potentially violating the Hatch Act. Pentagon officials, however, maintain that Hegseth attended in his personal capacity, with legal clearance, and without using taxpayer funds. This intervention occurred amidst ongoing conflict with Iran and Massie’s public disagreements with President Trump on various issues, including foreign aid and the release of the Epstein files.
