It is both astounding and deeply troubling to hear the comments that JD Vance made on a far-right podcast, where he claimed that the Civil War is still ongoing and proudly declared his allegiance to the South. As an American, and more specifically as someone who hails from a long line of Yankees who fought for the Union during that tumultuous period in our nation’s history, I find Vance’s remarks not only offensive but also downright dangerous.
