As a parent, hearing about an 11-year-old boy from Virginia being charged with making swatting calls to Florida schools is deeply troubling. I can’t help but think about my own children and how innocent and playful they were at that age. At 11, my kids were still playing with toys, Pokemon cards, Barbies, LEGOs, and scooters. The idea of them even considering such malicious and dangerous actions is unfathomable to me.

How could children so young commit such a monstrous act? It begs the question of what kind of society breeds such hatred and violence in its youth.

The details of the attack, including the sexual assault and strangulation, are stomach-churning. It is unnerving to think that individuals so young could commit such heinous acts of violence.
