Canada and Mexico Strengthen Ties Amid US Tensions
Prime Minister Mark Carney and Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum have solidified their countries’ relationship through a new strategic partnership, aiming to deepen ties amidst the uncertainty of a potential second Trump presidency in the U.S. This agreement encompasses developing trade and security relationships, infrastructure investment, and joint efforts on climate and conservation initiatives. Both leaders emphasized the importance of the Canada-U.S.-Mexico Agreement (CUSMA), with Carney stating Canada’s commitment to working with both partners.
