Opinion: Calling Kamala Harris a ‘DEI hire’ is what bigotry looks like
It is disheartening to witness the manner in which Kamala Harris, the Vice President of the United States, is being reduced to mere checkboxes based on her race and gender, rather than evaluating her abilities and qualifications. To refer to her as a ‘DEI hire’ is a manifestation of bigotry at its core, diminishing her accomplishments solely based on immutable characteristics.
Diversity, Equality, and Inclusion are indeed the pillars of what makes America great. Still, it is essential to acknowledge that reducing someone’s success to being a product of their race or gender is a form of discrimination and prejudice.
