Newly released federal records reveal unsanitary conditions at multiple Boar’s Head deli meat plants, including evidence of meat residue, mold, insects, and other violations spanning several years. These issues, documented in reports from Indiana, Arkansas, and Virginia facilities, mirror problems found at the Jarratt, Virginia plant linked to a deadly listeria outbreak. The company acknowledges the violations do not meet its standards, while government officials and families of victims express serious concerns and are pursuing investigations and legal action. The USDA is implementing new measures to improve food safety oversight.

I can’t believe it. Boar’s Head, the brand that many of us trusted for being the gold standard in processed meats, is now embroiled in a nationwide “law enforcement” investigation by the USDA. The reports coming out about the conditions in their plants are absolutely disturbing. Mold, insects, dripping water, meat, and fat residue caking the walls, floors, and equipment for years on end. This is not only unappetizing but extremely dangerous.
I used to be one of those consumers who believed that the Boar’s Head brand meant quality. I would choose their products over competitors because of that perceived higher standard.… Continue reading
I can’t help but feel a strong sense of disappointment and betrayal upon learning about the deadly listeria outbreak linked to Boar’s Head’s Virginia plant. The decision to close down the facility rather than address the ongoing problems head-on speaks volumes about the severity of the situation. In my mind, Boar’s Head has irreparably damaged their reputation by allowing such unsanitary conditions to persist in their production process.
It is disheartening to think that a brand known for its premium quality products could have been so negligent in ensuring food safety and hygiene standards. Reports of insects, mold, blood on the floor, and a rancid smell in the cooler paint a grim picture of the state of the facility.… Continue reading
I never thought I would see the day that one of the most revered brands in deli meats would be linked to a deadly outbreak due to repeated food safety violations. Boar’s Head, known for its premium quality and hefty price tag, has shattered the perception of being the “cadillac of deli meats” by breaking food safety rules dozens of times, as records show.
The fact that they have received numerous warnings and still allowed their food safety conditions to remain subpar is beyond negligent. Customers pay a premium price for Boar’s Head products, expecting top-notch quality, yet the recent outbreak resulting in the deaths of at least nine people has undermined that trust completely.… Continue reading
I used to work in a meat packing plant when I was younger, and I remember the strict health inspector we had to deal with weekly. She would meticulously inspect every nook and cranny of the facility, ensuring that not even a speck of meat was out of place. At the time, I found it a bit excessive, but after witnessing the aftermath of a listeria outbreak in Canada, I realized the importance of such thorough inspections.
The recent discovery of bugs, mold, and mildew at the Boar’s Head plant linked to the deadly listeria outbreak is truly alarming. Meat buildup on walls, insects crawling around the processing rooms, and leaks contaminating deli meats are red flags that should never be ignored.… Continue reading
