When I first heard about Bill Nye backing Kamala Harris and declaring that “Science Isn’t Partisan. It’s Patriotic”, I couldn’t help but feel a mixture of admiration and hesitation. As a scientist myself, I understand the importance of staying true to facts and evidence, regardless of political affiliations. But the idea of equating science with patriotism struck me as somewhat unusual, even jingoistic. Science, by its very nature, is objective and unbiased. It doesn’t pledge allegiance to any country or ideology. It simply seeks to understand the natural world through observation, experimentation, and critical thinking.
