As I sit here reflecting on the recent scandal involving Justice Alito’s wife being caught on tape spewing venom at everyone, I can’t help but feel a mix of shock and disgust. The blatant hatred, intolerance, and bigotry displayed by Martha-Ann Alito is not only appalling but also a stark reminder of the toxic ideologies that can exist behind closed doors. As I sit here and read about the purported neo-Nazis rallying at the South Dakota State Capitol, marching around Pierre with a swastika flag in hand, my blood boils. How can we, as a society, allow these individuals to openly spew hatred and bigotry, disguising themselves behind cowardly masks? The fact that they did not even bother to request a permit for their rally speaks volumes about their intentions – to intimidate, to spread fear, and to divide.

As I read about Michigan State Rep. Matt Maddock mistaking the Gonzaga basketball team for a busload of “illegals”, I couldn’t help but shake my head in disbelief at the sheer ignorance and racism displayed by some individuals in positions of power.
