As I read about the horrific case of a woman accused of murdering her own three-year-old son in Durham, claiming that the Bible allowed her to cane him, I find myself grappling with a multitude of emotions. The sheer brutality and callousness of the act leave me feeling a mix of anger, sorrow, and disbelief. How could a mother, the very person tasked with nurturing and protecting her child, commit such a heinous crime?
The idea that religious beliefs could be twisted and manipulated to justify such abhorrent behavior is deeply unsettling.
