A break in the C-Lion1 submarine cable, connecting Helsinki and Rostock, has disrupted data communications across the Baltic Sea. The cause of the fault in the 1,200 kilometer cable, commissioned in 2016, is currently under investigation. While Finland utilizes multiple routes to secure international data connections, the C-Lion1 is unique in providing a direct link to Central Europe.
