Eleven-year-old Kyle, a nonverbal autistic child, suffered a shattered femur after falling at school and lying unattended for two hours while crying in pain. The surveillance footage is horrifying. A school bus attendant, caught on camera, repeatedly strikes a nonverbal autistic student. The video shows the attendant hitting the child in the face, torso, and arms a total of 59 times over a period of just eight days. It’s not just one isolated incident; it’s a pattern of abuse, a blatant disregard for the child’s safety and well-being.
The sheer brutality of the attack is chilling. It’s hard to imagine how anyone could justify such violence, especially against a child who is unable to defend themselves. The attendant’s actions are reprehensible and beg the question: what could possibly drive someone to inflict such pain on a vulnerable child?… Continue reading
As I read about the recent incident involving a GOP candidate, Dave McCormick, who attempted to hold a campaign stop under the guise of an autism event at a Philly restaurant, but was ultimately banned after the truth came to light, I couldn’t help but feel a sense of disgust. It’s disheartening to see the extent to which some individuals are willing to go just to further their own agendas, even if it means blatantly lying and deceiving others.
The fact that McCormick misled the restaurant and the church where he later went, using false pretenses to carry out his campaign, speaks volumes about his lack of integrity.… Continue reading
As I read the news about the Florida teacher who was arrested for allegedly putting a 3-year-old in a headlock during storytime, my heart sank and my blood boiled. How could someone, who is supposed to be a caregiver and nurturer for young children, resort to such violent behavior towards a defenseless child? The paraeducator who witnessed this horrific incident and had the courage to report it deserves all the praise and recognition for standing up for the vulnerable child in their care. It makes me wonder, if this is what she did in the presence of another adult, what has she done when no one was watching?… Continue reading
As I read about the teenager who beat a teaching aide over the confiscation of his Nintendo Switch and is now suing the school for “failing to meet his needs,” I can’t help but feel a mix of anger, frustration, and disbelief. How is it possible that a violent act resulting in serious injuries is being overlooked in favor of placing blame on the school? It’s concerning to see that the parents are supporting this lawsuit, which raises questions about their true motives. Are they just seeking financial gain, or do they truly believe that their child’s actions are justified?
This case highlights a disturbing trend where personal accountability seems to take a back seat to excuses and entitlement.… Continue reading
