New Jersey Assault Rifle Ban Ruled Unconstitutional

This ruling marks the first time a federal appeals court has found such a state ban to violate the Second Amendment. New Jersey’s Attorney General criticized the decision, arguing that assault weapons and high-capacity magazines contribute to mass shootings and that the state acted lawfully in restricting them, noting that other federal circuits have ruled differently on this issue. The U.S. Supreme Court is also set to review similar bans, with a conservative majority on the court.
