It’s a law that was enacted a long time ago, even before Arizona became a state in 1912. So why should it have weight today, when the landscape of society and women’s rights has evolved significantly since then? The fact that Arizona voters may have a chance to rectify this through a ballot measure in November to enshrine abortion rights into the state constitution is encouraging.
