This agreement established a new $1,776 billion “anti-weaponisation fund,” to be disbursed at the discretion of commissioners appointed by Trump’s acting attorney general, ostensibly to compensate individuals targeted by government actions. Critics argue this fund acts as a slush fund to reward Trump’s allies, potentially incentivizing further anti-democratic actions.
