Swiss police probe hotel ski rental ban for Jewish guests

The recent news of a hotel ski rental ban for Jewish guests in Switzerland has left me deeply disturbed. How is it possible, in this day and age, that such discrimination and hatred continue to persist? As I read the details of this incident, one question kept nagging at me: how do they even know if someone is Jewish? Are they requesting proof of religion upon check-in? Pope Francis has recently voiced his concern over the “terrible increase in attacks against Jews around the world” and the rise of anti-Semitism since the war in Gaza erupted. As an individual who has been following the news, it is apparent to me that the Pope is becoming increasingly vocal about a range of issues, not just the Israel/Palestine conflict. This raises questions in my mind about the role and influence of the Pope in today’s society.
