The court’s decision followed a police raid on his home and political headquarters, also prohibiting him from social media and communication with specific individuals. Judge Alexandre de Moraes cited Bolsonaro’s deliberate and illegal actions, alleging attempts to hinder the trial and obstruct justice, leading to these restrictions. This comes amid the US president’s threat of tariffs on Brazilian goods, which he has called a “witch hunt”, in response to the legal proceedings.
