Teens Get Probation for AI Fake Nudes, Sparking Outrage Over Lenient Punishment and Tech Liability
Two teenage boys who used artificial intelligence to create fake nude photos of at least 59 classmates at an exclusive private school have been sentenced to probation. The boys, who were 14 at the time, admitted to creating approximately 350 images by morphing school photos with adult explicit material. Victims described the profound trauma and anxiety caused by the images, with some experiencing trust issues and difficulty focusing on school. The judge noted the defendants’ lack of apology or expression of responsibility, stating that adults would likely face state prison for such actions.
