Privacy Policy

Comments

When visitors leave comments on the site, the data shown in the comments form, along with the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string, is collected to assist with spam detection.

Additionally, an anonymized string (or hash) generated from your email address may be sent to the Gravatar service to determine if it is in use. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available at https://automattic.com/privacy/. Once a comment is approved, the profile picture associated with the Gravatar account will be publicly visible within the context of the comment.

Media

If you upload images to the website, avoid including embedded location data (EXIF GPS) within the files. Visitors to the website can download and access location data from images posted on the site.

Cookies

When leaving a comment on the site, you may opt-in to saving your name, email address, and website in cookies. These cookies are provided for convenience, allowing repeat comments without re-entering details. These cookies will persist for one year.

If the login page is accessed, a temporary cookie will be set to determine whether your browser accepts cookies. This cookie does not store personal data and is removed when the browser is closed.

Upon logging in, multiple cookies are set to retain login details and display preferences. Login cookies last for two days, while display options cookies last for one year. Choosing “Remember Me” extends the login duration to two weeks. Upon logging out, login cookies are cleared.

When editing or publishing an article, an additional cookie is saved to the browser. This cookie includes no personal data and merely notes the post ID of the article edited. It expires after one day.

Embedded Content from Other Websites

Articles on this site may include embedded content, such as videos, images, or articles. Embedded content from other websites behaves identically to a direct visit to that other website.

These external websites may collect data, use cookies, embed third-party tracking, and monitor interactions with the embedded content, including tracking such interactions if the visitor is logged into that site.

Data Sharing

If a password reset is requested, the IP address associated with the request will be included in the reset email.

Data Retention

Comments and their metadata are retained indefinitely. This allows for automatic recognition and approval of any follow-up comments rather than holding them for moderation.

For users who register on the website, the personal information provided is stored in their user profile. Users may view, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (with the exception of changing their username). Website administrators also have access to view and edit this information.

Data Rights

For users with accounts on the site or users who have left comments, a request may be made to receive an exported file of the personal data retained, including any information provided to the site. Users may also request that any personal data held be deleted, except for data retained for administrative, legal, or security obligations.

Data Transfer

Visitor comments may be processed through an automated spam detection service to maintain site integrity.
