The upcoming presidential debates have been a hot topic of conversation, with both the Biden and Trump campaigns making their stances known. While the Biden campaign has accepted an offer for a vice-presidential debate, the Trump campaign has yet to respond. Trump’s recent announcement of accepting a fourth presidential debate with NBC and Telemundo has sparked further controversy. As an independent voter, I believe that Biden made the right decision by rejecting additional debates against Trump.

Donald Trump may have broken his gag order again, and it seems like this has become a regular occurrence that just keeps repeating itself. The issue of contempt of court should be a serious violation of his bail agreement, but for some reason, he seems to be getting away with it time and time again. The lack of consequences for his actions only serves to make a mockery of the rule of law, and it’s frustrating to see how the justice system is failing to hold the powerful accountable.

I am absolutely appalled and disgusted after watching the surveillance video of Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs physically assaulting Cassie Ventura in 2016. The way he grabbed her from behind and slammed her to the floor, it’s sickening. She laid there motionless, likely knowing that any movement would only escalate the violence. It breaks my heart to think about what she must have endured during all those years trapped in an abusive relationship with him.

The Republican Party’s continued support for him, despite his alarming behavior, only highlights the grip he has on his party. Trump’s deteriorating mental state is becoming more apparent by the day. Biden’s team had a few demands for a Trump debate. A major one: No crowd. Removing the audience from the equation is a smart move in my opinion. It ensures that the focus remains solely on the candidates and their policies, rather than on getting cheap applause lines or resorting to showmanship to win over the crowd. A debate should be a serious, substantive discussion about the future of our country, not a popularity contest or a circus.

A young child in Ontario has died of measles, a completely preventable disease that should have been eradicated by now.
