I can’t say I’m surprised by the news that a challenger to Russian President Vladimir Putin has been barred from running in the upcoming election. As someone who has been following Russian politics closely, it’s becoming increasingly clear that these elections are nothing more than a facade, a charade to maintain the illusion of democracy.

As a Polish citizen, I find it absolutely baffling that the Republican Party in the United States, of all political factions, is the most pro-Russian. I recently watched the interview between Tucker Carlson and Russian President Vladimir Putin, and I must say, it was quite an absurd story. Putin seemed to be wasting time, telling history stories and saying the exact same things Russia has been saying for years. It was a nothing burger, to say the least.
But what struck me the most was the response from Olaf Scholz, the German candidate for chancellor, who described the interview as telling an absurd story.
