By Withdrawing in Favor of Kamala Harris, Joe Biden Proves That Only the GOP Is a Personality Cult | Democrats acted as a proper political party, while Republicans remain in thrall to a dangerous authoritarian.

The recent news of Joe Biden stepping down in favor of Kamala Harris has put a spotlight on the stark differences between the Democratic and Republican parties. Biden’s decision to prioritize the country’s well-being over his own ambitions highlights the integrity and values upheld by the Democrats as a proper political party. In contrast, the GOP’s unwavering loyalty to Trump showcases how they have devolved into nothing more than a personality cult.

The GOP’s transformation into a cult of personality under Trump has become increasingly evident. The blind loyalty and disregard for decency or civic-mindedness within the party have eroded any semblance of traditional political values.… Continue reading

General Staff: Russia has lost 568,980 troops in Ukraine since Feb. 24, 2022

More than half a million lives. Gone. In the blink of an eye. What a staggering number. What a senseless tragedy. As I read through the statistics of the loss suffered by Russia in Ukraine, I can’t help but feel a profound sense of sadness and disbelief. 8,288 tanks, 16,000 armored fighting vehicles, 21,202 vehicles and fuel tanks, 15,694 artillery systems, 1,125 multiple launch rocket systems, 901 air defense systems, 362 airplanes, 326 helicopters, 12,511 drones, 28 ships and boats, and one submarine. The numbers are mind-boggling. The scale of destruction and loss is incomprehensible.… Continue reading

A 12-year-old girl is accused of smothering her 8-year-old cousin over an iPhone

I cannot begin to fathom the unimaginable tragedy that occurred when a 12-year-old girl was accused of smothering her 8-year-old cousin over an iPhone. The sheer horror of this situation is incomprehensible. The fact that this young girl not only took another life but also attempted to cover it up by repositioning and cleaning the victim is beyond disturbing. It shows a level of criminal intent and predatory behavior that is chilling to think about.

The timeline of events is harrowing – the older child waiting for the cousin to sleep before committing such a heinous act is truly abhorrent. The juvenile nature of these individuals makes this event even more shocking.… Continue reading

Le Pen’s far-right National Rally party failed to win any key positions in French parliament

Le Pen’s far-right National Rally party failed to win any key positions in the French parliament, and I must say, I am quite pleased by this outcome. It is a relief to see that the other parties set aside their differences to prevent the National Rally from gaining any significant power. The unity displayed by the political forces in France to keep Le Pen and her party at bay is a powerful message against extremism and divisive ideologies.

It was fascinating to witness how President Emmanuel Macron strategically dissolved the parliament to prevent the far-right from gaining a stronghold. It goes to show that sometimes, proper utilization of electoral mechanisms can lead to significant outcomes.… Continue reading

Harris campaign rakes in nearly $50 million in 7 hours on ActBlue

I could hardly believe my eyes when I first saw the headlines – Harris campaign rakes in nearly $50 million in just 7 hours on ActBlue. The sheer magnitude of this fundraising achievement is truly astonishing, setting the stage for what could potentially be the biggest fundraising day in history. As I read through the reactions and comments online, I couldn’t help but feel a sense of hope and excitement brewing among small donors who came out in droves to support Kamala Harris.

The outpouring of support from grassroots donors demonstrates just how energized the base is, with individuals from all walks of life chipping in whatever amount they can to back Harris in her bid for the presidency.… Continue reading

Kremlin to pay soldiers £50,000 in Ukraine war recruitment drive

The Kremlin’s recent announcement to pay soldiers £50,000 in a recruitment drive for the Ukraine war has sparked mixed reactions. As a former Marine who was offered a $25k reenlistment bonus to remain a cook, I understand the allure of financial incentives for military service. However, the context of this recruitment drive raises questions about the true motives behind such a generous offer.

The staggering amount being promised to soldiers raises concerns about the value placed on human life in the midst of war. In a conflict where casualties are inevitable, offering such a sum as a sign-up bonus seems almost cynical.… Continue reading

Biden withdraws from US Presidential Race

When I turned off airplane mode and found out that Biden was withdrawing from the presidential race, I have to admit, my first thought was, “Wow, that was quick.” It seems like no major US political event can last just an hour these days. But in all seriousness, this move by Biden definitely shakes things up in the already turbulent political landscape we find ourselves in. To think that Trump is now the oldest nominee in the history of the country is quite the turnaround from where we were just a few days ago.

All the signs, T-shirts, bumper stickers, billboards that have been made, all the planning that has gone into Biden’s campaign – it all has to be trashed now.… Continue reading

The UK says it conducted a ‘groundbreaking’ trial of a laser beam weapon that can neutralize targets for $0.12 a shot

The UK’s recent announcement about conducting a ‘groundbreaking’ trial of a laser weapon that can neutralize targets for only $0.12 a shot has sparked a myriad of reactions and speculations. The idea of a laser beam weapon capable of efficiently targeting and defeating NATO class 1 drones certainly sounds like something out of a sci-fi movie. The implications of such technology being deployed in real-world scenarios can be both fascinating and concerning.

The concept of a laser weapon that costs a mere $0.12 per shot raises questions about the practicality and effectiveness of such a system. While the idea of a cost-efficient solution for neutralizing threats is appealing, the specifics of how this technology operates remain unclear.… Continue reading

Missouri woman who served 43 years in prison freed after murder conviction overturned

Sandra Hemme, a woman who served 43 years in prison for a crime she did not commit, was finally freed after a judge overturned her murder conviction. The judge ruled that Hemme’s attorneys had presented “clear and convincing evidence” of her innocence, yet Republican Attorney General Andrew Bailey fought against her release in court. It is appalling to think that a woman had to spend over four decades behind bars for a crime she did not commit, only to face further resistance from the Attorney General’s office in gaining her freedom.

Hemme was heavily sedated and in a vulnerable mental state when investigators coerced a confession out of her in a psychiatric hospital.… Continue reading

Illinois Police release body-cam video of fatal shooting of Black woman in her home

I just watched the body-cam video released by the Illinois Police of the fatal shooting of a Black woman in her home, and I cannot find the words to express my horror. The video shows Sonya Massey in her kitchen, holding a pot of boiling water, which she refuses to drop when ordered to by the officer. The officer, Grayson, needlessly escalates the situation by drawing his gun and ultimately shooting her in the head. The officer’s callous attitude after the shooting, refusing to provide medical aid and stating he won’t waste his supplies on her, is utterly abhorrent.

The sheer brutality of this incident is sickening.… Continue reading
