It’s a bizarre fusion of religious iconography, political rivalry, and cutting-edge technology, and frankly, it feels like we’ve stumbled into a particularly surreal chapter of history. The fact that this even exists, let alone that it’s being used as a form of political messaging, really makes you question the direction things are heading.
The video itself is described as playing off of an AI image of Trump as Jesus that he had previously posted and then deleted. It’s a retaliatory move, a visual jab that leverages the very tool that was, in a way, initiated by the former president. In the depiction, Jesus descends from the heavens, an automated voice declares that Trump’s “reckoning has come,” and after a brief, confused exclamation from Trump, Jesus delivers a punch, followed by the image of Trump being cast into hell. It’s a stark, almost cartoonish, depiction of divine retribution, and it’s being circulated by an Iranian embassy, no less.
The reactions to this have been, predictably, all over the map, but there’s a noticeable undercurrent of amusement and a strange sort of grim validation. Some find it hilarious, viewing it as a ridiculous escalation of what’s being dubbed the “Shitposting Wars” or “Meme Wars.” The idea of global powers engaging in such digital skirmishes, using AI-generated content as their weapons, is so outlandish that it’s almost funny, albeit in a deeply unsettling way. It’s a far cry from traditional diplomatic exchanges, that’s for sure.
There’s also a sentiment that this is a fitting response to what’s perceived as the constant barrage of AI-generated content and meme warfare from the Trump camp. For some, it’s about holding up a mirror to their tactics, using their own methods to mock and critique. If Trump and his supporters engage in this kind of digital spectacle, then perhaps this is the only language they understand. It’s a tit-for-tat, a digital eye for an eye, and in this case, the eye is a divine punch to the underworld.

For many, the idea of Jesus delivering divine judgment is a powerful image, even if it’s being weaponized for political gain. The effectiveness of this kind of “slopaganda,” as some have called it, is also a point of discussion. It’s crude, it’s shocking, and it’s certainly attention-grabbing. In an age saturated with information, sometimes the most absurd and outrageous content cuts through the noise. Iran, in this instance, seems to be demonstrating a knack for this kind of digital troll game, effectively capturing attention and making a statement, however unconventional.
There’s also a sense of surrealism and even resignation. Comments about historians in the future looking back and assuming everyone had brain damage, or the notion that we’ve all somehow slipped into a wrong timeline, speak to the sheer weirdness of the current political and technological landscape. It’s a feeling of being trapped in a chaotic, digitally-enhanced reality where the lines between truth, fiction, and propaganda are increasingly blurred. The rise of AI in these political battles has made the once-unimaginable a daily occurrence.
And the speculation about future escalations is almost as wild as the video itself. Will Trump respond with an AI-generated video of a nuclear strike on Iran? Will the meme wars continue to escalate, drawing in other historical or religious figures? The possibilities, as disturbing as they may be, seem endless in this new era of digital conflict. It’s a chilling thought that this could be the genesis of something much larger and more chaotic, all stemming from an AI-generated video of Jesus punching a former president.
