The Department of Justice has broadened the definition of domestic terrorism, encompassing organized structures, networks, and actions related to radicalization, rioting, looting, and doxing of law enforcement, as well as the targeting of public officials. This shift will lead to federal charges in cases previously handled locally, signaling an escalation of legal repercussions. The administration has repeatedly used this broader definition to justify actions against individuals, exemplified by the handling of cases involving ICE agents, even when video evidence contradicted their claims. These actions have raised concerns about the potential for abuse and the suppression of dissent.

We’re All “Domestic Terrorists” Now
It’s starting to feel like that South Park episode, isn’t it? The one where the hunters just shout “it’s coming right at us” to justify shooting a deer. Now, it seems like all it takes is for ICE to yell “domestic terrorist,” and they’re given a free pass. It’s a chilling thought.
Donated to the Democrats? Terrorist. Coexist bumper sticker? Terrorist. Volunteered at Planned Parenthood? Terrorist. Wanting the wealthy to pay their fair share? Terrorist. Even saying something mean about a Republican? Believe it or not, also terrorist. It’s as though MAGA itself has become a domestic terrorist organization, with Trump and his allies weaponizing ICE to terrorize anyone who dares to disagree.
The terrifying reality is that we might be next. The outrage on platforms is justified, yet it feels like no one truly grasps the full scope of what’s happening.
I was at the grocery store the other day. The checker asked how I was doing, and I mentioned my anger about a shooting in MN, even though I’m nowhere near Minnesota. They looked at me, completely bewildered. The people behind me in line? Same. My family? Oblivious. Everyone in my life? Clueless. We’re all living in our own isolated social media bubbles, and that allows the wealthy and powerful to operate unchecked.
Many people still blindly trust the government, regardless of who’s in charge. They don’t want to pay attention because the world is full of terrible things. Unless we can start to break through these bubbles, we’re all, frankly, cooked. Where have I heard this before? It feels familiar. Wait… Was it at CPAC?
That CPAC conference seems to be a key moment. History books will probably look at it with scrutiny. It’s wild that this is happening and a good example of the execution of Reneé Nicole Good by ICE agents. “It was an act of domestic terrorism,” declared Kristi Noem, following the killing. The head of Homeland Security assured us that citizens had nothing to fear, despite the video evidence suggesting otherwise.
The emperor has no clothes. Noem, Trump, and their supporters are trying to label Good a terrorist, a threat to the American people. This isn’t new. They’ve been using that label for migrants, antifa, journalists, and even Democrats. Now, it seems, all of us are potential targets.
This expansive definition of who qualifies as a domestic terrorist started during the previous administration. They created a “Black Identity Extremists” designation. Amid protests over George Floyd’s murder, Trump lashed out at antifa, tweeting that he would designate the group a domestic terror organization. He made good on that threat, declaring that individuals associated with Antifa were spreading political violence.
Then came National Security Presidential Memorandum 7, titled “Countering Domestic Terrorism and Organized Political Violence.” It reads like a script from a White Christian Persecution fantasy.
The order’s definition of domestic terrorism is based on 18 U.S.C. 2331(5), which states that it involves activities intended to intimidate or coerce a civilian population or influence government policy through intimidation or coercion. This definition is incredibly vague, giving Trump, Noem, and Attorney General Bondi wide latitude to apply it as they please.
Bondi’s memo made it clear that rioting and looting would be considered domestic terrorism. The DOJ would handle these cases with federal charges. Moreover, the memo stated that doxxing law enforcement officers would be considered domestic terrorism, as would the “targeting of public officials or other political actors,” without specifying what that “targeting” includes. Is yelling at a public official considered targeting? We don’t know. Driving away from ICE because you were told to? Is that domestic terrorism?
In another incident, ICE agents shot and killed Silverio Villegas-Gonzalez, an undocumented immigrant, claiming he hit an agent with his car, but video evidence contradicted their story. In yet another instance, ICE agents rammed the car of Marimar Martinez, an American citizen, after she warned people in her neighborhood about the agents’ presence, then shot her five times. One of the agents even taunted her before opening fire.
It could be you or me next. I believe in giving ICE a hard time. If they show up in my neighborhood and start snatching people off the street, I’ll be there, too. I suppose that makes me a terrorist, too.
The Trump regime is, by definition, a hostile terrorist organization. A terrorist organization uses or threatens violence for political, religious, or ideological goals, aiming to create fear and coerce governments or populations. They often target civilians or non-combatants.
Key characteristics include politically motivated violence, intimidation tactics, and the intent to influence broader audiences.
The Trump regime has deployed military units against the civilian population, using aggressive tactics and overt violence to create an environment of fear. They’ve eliminated due process for many and sent military forces into schools and businesses to intimidate. They’re executing people in the street. All of this is being done to advance their political and ideological goals.
This violence, fear, and militarization are all designed to control the population and advance a specific agenda. It’s crucial to understand the Declaration of Independence and what it says about the rights of the people. It stresses the right to alter or abolish a government that becomes destructive to these ends.
The media spends too much time on words instead of the real issue. Noem lied and this was an execution. Republicans are against anyone who isn’t on their side. “A republic, if you can keep it,” as Benjamin Franklin said. The word “terrorist” is thrown around so carelessly by this administration. We live in a police state. I’m not afraid of being labeled. The masked goons brutalizing people are the real terrorists.
As Rick Sanchez said, “At this point, what’s a terrorist? It’s just a guy you don’t like.”
We’re all at war with our own government. Republicans are trying to water down the definition of “terrorist.” Combined with Trump’s rhetoric about Democrats being “violent” people, expect him to try to designate the whole party as domestic terrorists.
We’ve reached the point where the phrase “always has been” is an understatement. If you go against the Trump cult, you’re suddenly a radical leftist. They will never acknowledge reality. They need to keep the propaganda machine running.
Renee, clearly, did have something to fear. This is all backwards. Our citizenship and legal status gets revoked at will by ICE officers. They are collecting all the voting records of democrats.
Terrorism, in its broadest sense, is the use of violence against non-combatants to achieve political or ideological aims.
There are absolutely terrorists on the streets of America. But the fascists are projecting themselves and their actions on their victims. Her goons just killed a citizen of the U.S. so how can she provide assurances that U.S. citizens have nothing to fear from her hit squad?
CPAC literally had that phrase on their screen two years ago: “Enemies of the state.” Well, we were all Nazis before. Remember when they stood in front of a giant banner at CPAC like three years ago that said “We Are All Domestic Terrorists”?
I told my parents to remember what side of history they were on. The Republican Party is a terrorist organization. If you’re going to be labeled a terrorist regardless, maybe it’s time to show them what one is. The shooter has absolute immunity. What kind of restraint do you think ICE agents are going to show now?
They all know prison is a serious option going forward, they will pull no punches. Don’t expect them to. Globally recognized crimes against humanity *might* be the only way to hold them accountable. Our Supreme court being complicit and all…
This is a true definition of political persecution. A Latina grandmother swinging her fists at an ICE officer is now a terrorist. Is shooting a puppy domestic terrorism?
We’re the rebellion. But I don’t even vote Republican. Might as well start behaving like one, eh? We knew this was coming. This is all fascism.
We are all domestic terrorists now.
