Despite being mandated by law, the plaque has not been installed, with its whereabouts currently unknown, although it is believed to be in storage. House Speaker Mike Johnson has yet to unveil the plaque, and the Department of Justice is attempting to dismiss a lawsuit seeking its display. In the absence of the official memorial, many members of Congress have installed replica plaques outside their offices to ensure the events of January 6th are not forgotten.

Jan. 6 plaque made to honor law enforcement nowhere to be found at the Capitol. That’s right, the plaque, intended to recognize the bravery of law enforcement officers who defended the Capitol on January 6th, 2021, is conspicuously absent. You’d think, given the significance of the event and the sacrifices made, that such a tribute would be prominently displayed. But here we are, with the plaque in limbo, and questions swirling.
House Speaker Mike Johnson, and the entire Republican party, haven’t unveiled the plaque, for reasons that seem intentionally vague. The Department of Justice, during the Trump administration, is apparently trying to prevent the plaque from being displayed as originally planned. The Architect of the Capitol, the very entity tasked with installing the memorial, has also clammed up, citing ongoing legal issues. This is a clear case of obstruction, designed to rewrite history.
The whole situation reminds me of a bad spy movie, with the political branches working in tandem to pull a disappearing act. It’s almost comical, if the subject matter wasn’t so serious. Remember how some Republicans, previously cowering in fear, are now attempting to rewrite history by claiming January 6th was a “peaceful tour?” The hypocrisy is astounding. This is what you expect from someone who pardons those who tried to overthrow democracy.
This is what fascists do – they erase inconvenient truths. Law enforcement, take heed, because your value to these people only extends as far as your obedience. If you stand in their way, you might find yourself on the receiving end of their disdain. This lack of respect is a stark contrast to their professed love for “law and order,” right up until those laws get in the way of their ambitions.
It’s tempting to think this missing plaque is a simple oversight, but the deliberate nature of its absence suggests something far more sinister. It’s a blatant attempt to sanitize history, to downplay the severity of the January 6th attack, and to diminish the courage of the Capitol police who faced down the mob. This isn’t just a missing plaque; it’s an active act of historical revisionism. It’s a clear message: those in power don’t want the truth remembered accurately.
This isn’t about respecting law enforcement, it’s about paying lip service to a cause while undermining it with your actions. Remember, 140 Capitol police officers were injured that day, and some later took their own lives, protecting the very people who now seem content to erase their sacrifices. These are the same politicians who cowered for their own safety and were protected by those brave men and women.
The blatant lack of gratitude is staggering. But, unfortunately, this is hardly a surprise, and the news media in this country is too afraid to stand up and tell the truth. If we had genuine, unbiased reporting, the tide would have turned. The blatant lies and misdirection is all quite stunning.
This isn’t just about a missing plaque, it is the systematic attempt to rewrite history. It’s about protecting criminals and distorting the truth to suit a political agenda. The fact that the plaque is not on display suggests that someone doesn’t want January 6th to be remembered accurately.
Remember the words of those who want you to vote for them? The party of “law and order” seems to have a problem when the law interferes with their designs. The same group also claims they support all police and military members, but we all know that’s not true, as it is all a lie.
The sad part of the story is that the people who caused this probably won’t be held accountable. And if there is any doubt about the criminal actions in the lead-up to January 6, consider the evidence: Trump’s election interference indictment is a gold mine of well-documented facts. He even had his own lawyer concede there was no legal basis for his attempts to overturn the election. Yet the propaganda machine continues.
This behavior, sadly, seems to be a hallmark of modern politics. It’s about hiding the truth, protecting those in power, and trying to rewrite history to fit a fabricated narrative.
