Public opinion overwhelmingly opposes Donald Trump’s idea of acquiring Greenland, whether by military force or other means. A recent Reuters/Ipsos poll revealed that only 4% of Americans support seizing Greenland with force, a figure that is arguably within the “Lizardman’s Constant,” implying a low level of genuine support. Despite the unpopularity, the Trump administration has been met with resistance from Denmark and Greenland, as well as allies like France, Germany, and Sweden, who plan to deploy troops to defend Greenland from potential American aggression. The article emphasizes the need for Congressional intervention to prevent any disastrous actions.

Seizing Greenland might be the least popular idea in American political history.
This whole Greenland scenario, the idea of the U.S. essentially taking over an ally’s territory, it’s just mind-boggling. It’s not about “seizing,” a word that has legal connotations; it’s an invasion, a potential act of war against Denmark. And let’s be clear, Denmark and Greenland would not just sit idly by. They would fight for their sovereignty. Why would anyone want to risk World War III over a piece of ice? It’s like a bad comedy routine, or a distraction so bad you can see it’s a distraction.
Trump seems to be using this as a litmus test. A way to see if his supporters are truly devoted, regardless of the absurdity. If they support this, they support him, no matter what. And a significant portion of his base, they’ll fall in line because loyalty to the party line is more important than logic or even decency. It’s a cult tactic, plain and simple, a manipulation of his base.
The justification for this Greenland gambit, if you can even call it that, is essentially, “They have resources we want, and they can’t stop us.” It’s a promise of armed robbery on a national scale. It’s a complete dismantling of the world order the U.S. created after World War II. It’s a slap in the face to our allies. It’s stupid beyond words. The reasons offered so far are weak, and the idea of ditching NATO over it? Throwing the baby out with the bathwater.
It’s hard to believe anyone outside of a select few would consider this a good idea. It’s deranged, immoral, and incredibly dangerous. But here we are, with approval ratings that are, frankly, astonishing. This is the definition of “elect a clown, expect a circus”. It makes a lot more sense as a distraction from the Epstein files, the Pandora’s Box of potentially damning information.
The people who support this seem to not care what Trump does, as long as he’s the one doing it. It’s almost as if the concept of right and wrong has been completely thrown out the window. This idea is less popular than, and I’m not using the word lightly, pedophilia! And yet, nothing happens. It’s like we’re already living in an authoritarian state, just calling it something else. It is a terrifying realization.
This is the worst Congress in history for not holding this administration accountable. For allowing a draft dodger to instigate potential conflict. For not pushing back against such a wildly unpopular and dangerous concept. It’s like walking into your neighbor’s house and declaring it yours. It’s madness. It’s about deciding, unilaterally, whether another country deserves its freedom.
Everything that isn’t about Epstein is on the table, when you’re a pedophile and you want everyone to forget about it. Once the checks and balances are gone, and the system is flooded with lies, the popularity of the idea doesn’t matter. It doesn’t matter that this is an invasion, and a blatant disregard for international norms. The world is watching, and it’s not impressed.
Consider the logistics. Greenland is largely ice-covered. Shipping and logistics are a challenge. You need icebreakers. Now let’s do the math: NATO has about 45 icebreakers. Russia has around 57. The U.S. has a measly 2 or 3. If the U.S. takes Greenland, and alienates NATO in the process, the advantage in icebreakers goes to Russia. This isn’t just about losing face; it’s about a strategic disaster. It’s about isolating the U.S. on the global stage, and diminishing its ability to lead. It makes absolutely no sense.
Why would we jeopardize everything that has made America great for something that provides little to no benefit? Greenland already benefits us in every way that matters. The whole thing is absurd. The suspicion is that this whole thing is a set up for failure. It’s designed to waste time in the news cycle, a distraction from other issues that are far more troubling. The opposition gets a “victory” they can celebrate, distracting from other horrible things.
But in this day and age, it’s pretty clear that it doesn’t matter anymore. He’s not running again. He wants to enrich himself and the oligarchy. If it takes violating the Geneva Convention, declaring martial law, or saying that voting is bad, so be it. The nobility controls the levers of power. He may well be right. They may well be, for a little longer, un-stoppable.
