The worst thing about Elon Musk is that he got away with all of it. It’s a bitter pill to swallow, but it’s the truth that’s staring us in the face. It’s not just that he got lucky; the game is rigged to reward the lucky and punish no one. The narrative is often that he’s a brilliant visionary, a self-made genius. In reality, he’s a beneficiary of a system designed to protect and enrich the already wealthy, even when their actions are demonstrably harmful. The lack of accountability is the crux of the issue.
The “reign of terror” didn’t end after he supposedly “bought the 2024 election” because, frankly, it never really began. It’s more like a continuation of a pattern, a compounding of offenses without consequence. It is a slow descent into a reality where the powerful are insulated from the rules that govern the rest of us. They can exploit, manipulate, and even cause significant harm, all while enjoying the fruits of their actions.
The Department of Justice, or rather, the “Department of Trump,” as some might call it, seems incapable or unwilling to hold him to account. The lack of enforcement against white-collar crime, financial misdeeds, and even potentially more serious offenses is staggering. It’s a clear signal that the system isn’t designed to police the behavior of the ultra-wealthy.
