The upcoming election sees Democrat Behn and Republican Van Epps competing to fill the vacancy left by Representative Mark Green. Van Epps, endorsed by Trump, is focusing on conservative issues such as border security and opposition to “woke” policies. Behn, a Tennessee state representative, is campaigning on an anti-corporate platform addressing affordability concerns. A win for Behn would further solidify Democratic gains at the local level.

The Vatican has updated its administrative rules, marking a shift away from Latin as the primary official language. Article 50 of the new regulations allows for the use of other languages, a change from the previous requirement that documents be written in Latin “as a rule”. This reflects a broader trend of diminishing Latin’s importance within the Catholic Church, where masses have long been conducted in local languages. While papal doctrinal letters are still published in Latin, official communications are now often released in English, Italian, Spanish, and French, with Pope Leo XIV, the first American pontiff, fluent in several languages including Latin.

Democrat, Republican neck and neck in Tennessee special election: Poll, and the very fact that this is even a conversation is a big deal. Trump won this district by a whopping 22 points in the last election, so the fact that the race is even close is something that should give Republicans a serious case of the jitters. This was supposed to be a guaranteed win for the GOP. Instead, we have Democrat Aftyn Behn polling within a razor-thin margin of her Republican opponent, Matt Van Epps – close enough to be within the margin of error of the poll itself.… Continue reading
Trump told Japan’s PM in their call to lower the tone on Taiwan, WSJ reports, and it seems like this particular nugget of information has stirred up quite a reaction. The reports suggest that during a call, former President Trump advised Japan’s Prime Minister to dial back her rhetoric regarding Taiwan. The initial reaction, judging by the overall sentiment, seems to be a mix of shock, skepticism, and a healthy dose of cynicism.
The underlying concern seems to be that Trump’s actions, particularly in this context, could be interpreted as a willingness to appease China at the expense of allies and long-standing geopolitical strategies.… Continue reading

The company is currently facing other lawsuits related to ChatGPT.

The court also imposed a nine-year ban from public office, though Vizcarra has stated his intention to appeal the decision, claiming the sentence is retribution for his political clashes. The conviction stems from illegal payments received from companies in exchange for awarding contracts for construction projects during his tenure as governor of Moquegua. Vizcarra is one of several former Peruvian presidents either in prison or who have served time.

Mark Kelly’s blunt assessment of Pete Hegseth as “totally unqualified” really hits home, doesn’t it? The sheer audacity of the situation, the idea that someone like Hegseth, given his background, could be considered for a position where he would oversee military personnel, is what Kelly found so “ridiculous.” It’s hard to disagree. It seems like the whole thing is just absurd.
Kelly’s comments on “Jimmy Kimmel Live” were a clear indication of how many people feel. While acknowledging the importance of journalists, the Senator pointed out that Hegseth’s background, is not aligned with the requirements of such a high level role.… Continue reading
Leaked transcripts from Bloomberg reveal that U.S. envoy Steve Witkoff coached a Putin aide on how to manage President Trump and suggested a peace plan between Russia and Ukraine. The transcripts detail Witkoff encouraging the Russian aide to have Putin flatter Trump and praising a Mideast peace deal to get Trump to favor Russia. Furthermore, it appears a 28-point U.S.-Russian peace plan favored Russia and was heavily amended, potentially originating from the Russian side. Reactions include calls for Witkoff’s replacement by Ukrainian officials and accusations that the leaks are fake.
