Verdict Number One: America Has Big-Time Buyer’s Remorse About Trump
It seems pretty undeniable that a significant chunk of America is experiencing some serious buyer’s remorse when it comes to Donald Trump. The product, as some might call it, has been tried, tested, and found wanting. The promises of “no new wars” and lower prices turned into the opposite, a stark reminder of why many are now regretting their choice. It’s a bitter pill to swallow when you realize the person you voted for not only didn’t deliver on their promises but actually made things worse.
Many of those experiencing this remorse are people who voted for Trump and have since felt the direct financial or personal impact of his policies. There’s a certain sadness in watching these individuals grapple with the consequences of their choices, particularly when they were seemingly comfortable inflicting those consequences on others previously. This situation highlights the crucial importance of empathy and how those who manipulate religious beliefs often attack it so vehemently. Many voters are waking up to the fact that they were lied to, that Trump doesn’t care about them, and that he’s not helping them at all. Unfortunately, for many, this realization comes too late.
It’s also interesting to see the lack of “rigged election” rhetoric from Trump recently. Perhaps some within the Republican party are finally understanding that their previous approach was a failure. Looking back, it’s hard to believe anyone would have believed this situation to be a good idea, given the existing track record. And then, there’s the impact of his time in office, and the disastrous consequences of the previous presidency, which should have been considered.
There is a sense of incredulity about why anyone would have voted for him again, especially when looking at his persona. The sleazy charm, the name recognition, the lingering appeal of The Apprentice – it all played a part. The fact that the first election was so close, and that his victory was achieved with some assistance from Gen Z boys, should have been a red flag. He essentially had a blank check to do whatever he pleased, and he took it.
He then took this narrow victory and acted as if he had a mandate to do all the things he had promised during the campaign. Now, we are considering invading several countries and deporting citizens. All the experts were warning a second Trump term would be a disaster, and we already had his first term to see how awful he is. How could anyone possibly have foreseen this? The answer is obvious.
This whole situation, really, boils down to a fundamental lack of self-awareness. It’s like buying a product, returning it because it’s faulty, and then buying it again! It’s difficult to avoid the feeling that those who voted for him were simply blinded. Electing a criminal leads to criminal acts. Sadly, the “no refunds or returns” sign is up, and we’re stuck. We need to remember that they knew what they were voting for and not let them rewrite history.
The narrative that Trump was somehow sneaked into the bag is incorrect. Some suggest that Republicans aren’t even hiding the fact that they rigged the election and played out the “stolen election” cry so that anyone who says they stole it would be the crazy ones. Some are not even sure whether they even bought this garbage product or if they got reverse pickpocketed, however.
The current situation is summed up when it is stated that “Americans have developed a big-time case of buyer’s remorse about Trump, and a very solid majority of them despise what Trump has perpetrated against America.”
The problem with this situation is that many think that those experiencing buyer’s remorse are those who are capable of self-reflection. The truth is, some would argue that MAGA is not a cult, which is incorrect, and that MAGA is capable of self-reflection and remorse, which of course they’re not. Some people did not consent, and still don’t. The wins of the opposite side are that much sweeter.
It’s clear that many people didn’t ask for any of this. It’s an “abusive boyfriend decided to purchase a leopard to live in our home and now I have to deal with it trying to kill me” scenario. This lack of awareness and the inability to foresee the consequences are simply unbelievable. Those who voted for him and those who didn’t vote at all are to blame, and they get what they deserve.
The truth is, many of Trump’s voters knew he was lying. They knew he was going to break his promises. Yet, they still voted for him.
