The Republican Party is grappling with renewed accusations of racism and expressions of support for violence. Donald Trump amplified these concerns by praising a Confederate leader and joking about his aide’s controversial views. Meanwhile, J.D. Vance defended pro-Nazi rhetoric found in leaked Young Republican chat logs. This comes amidst a government shutdown and the discovery of a swastika image in a Republican congressman’s office, further highlighting the internal struggles and distractions facing the GOP.

Trump touts slavery icon as Vance whitewashes racist texts. These guys aren’t saying quiet part out loud — they’re shouting. This whole situation is just… well, it’s not exactly a surprise, is it? Every time you think the bottom has been reached, the Trump train pulls out a bigger shovel and starts digging a deeper hole. And that tired phrase, “the quiet part out loud?” Overused. Way, way overused. These folks haven’t just hinted at things. They’ve explicitly said some truly appalling, hateful things, both about race and about authoritarianism. There’s no secret message here. It’s all right there in the open. Don’t be shocked when they openly argue that the 14th Amendment is somehow unconstitutional in front of the Supreme Court.
Trump’s been a textbook racist for decades. There was a time in the 80s when “racist landlord” practically defined him. Stop acting like this is some kind of revelation. And as a Black man in this country, I’m used to this level of rhetoric from a government that’s actively trying to roll back civil rights. White nationalism is the core of the MAGA movement. They’re barely trying to hide it anymore, just a few half-hearted attempts at masking it. Soon, they won’t even bother. It’s appalling that Trump is defending slavery and that no one in the GOP seems to bat an eye. It’s unacceptable, nonstop, in everyone’s face, lying and insulting the American people. This guy is a total embarrassment. Red Hat equals Confederate equals the KKK. It really is that simple.
They’re essentially saying, “Yeah, that’s us, the GOP, what are you going to do about it?” And then you have someone like Vance, who’s married to a woman of Indian descent, with children, and yet he’s still a racist SOB. I wonder how it feels when his own bigoted cult attacks his family simply for not being white. Republicans are behaving as the KKK. They’ll turn around and call themselves the “Party of Lincoln” in the very next breath. Lincoln would be ostracized in today’s GOP. Mark my words: conservatives are going to try to outlaw interracial relationships, legalize rape, legalize pedophilia, and bring back slave labor in the form of “illegal” people in the USA (protesters, minorities, women). Being so brazen like this is how you kill the Republican Party and make everyone leave except the extremists. They’re unbelievably stupid for doing this, but I’m glad they’re making people hate them if they aren’t already fully on board.
They’ve been shouting this stuff for a while now. I thought this kind of stuff was common knowledge. The MAGA movement has turned the dog whistles into full-blown air raid sirens. It makes you wonder why the media gives this kind of nonsense a platform and pretends it’s legitimate. The media is being used as a tool for this propaganda. This is how Trump co-opted the Republicans’ machinery the first time around. Dog whistles work, but shouting works even better. And what’s wild is that there are still tons of people defending and supporting this mess.
It’s not a “dog whistle” anymore. Racism, sexism, bigotry, pedophilia, and hatred are literally their entire political platform. That was always my thought too. The “quiet part” doesn’t exist. Anyone who says it does is like a Stockholm syndrome/co-conspirator church lady defending the pedo leaders/husbands. …And other scenarios of “We don’t talk about that” culture. Coverup culture, really is what it is. For some of us, it was never quiet. And the Supreme Court is already in their pocket.
Thankfully, a constitutional amendment cannot, by definition, be unconstitutional. At that point, you’re just saying the Constitution isn’t law, which is effectively saying the Supreme Court isn’t a court. That doesn’t make sense. The 14th Amendment is the Constitution. It’s all about protecting the rights of all citizens. You must be young if you’re surprised. They aren’t hiding it. They are doing it and telling you they aren’t…then doing it again.
It’s a stark reminder that this isn’t cute or something to be laughed at. It makes you wonder what our new flag would look like. The South has risen again. I can understand the history and current GOP philosophy is descended from those of the Dixiecrats, which themselves are descended from the Confederacy. I can’t believe Trump was defending someone who lead a rebellion against the United States. Racism is a deep-rooted issue that’s been around for generations. It used to be socially unacceptable, at least to a certain degree where it couldn’t be said out loud, but nowadays that’s not the case. The sheer amount of hate that some people have for others is truly mind-boggling.
They don’t see the same news as you and I do. Imagine living in a conservative bubble, only seeing the news and the comments from people within that bubble. The problem is that way too many people don’t care to check other sources and look at news and commentary from outside their bubble. They just live in their echo chambers and reinforce each other. This is why when they are shown news from outside their bubble they think it’s fake, because it goes against everything they have seen and heard. The media has also been using “bonkers” too much lately. “Bonkers” can mean “outrageously fun” as well as “off his rocker”. They might as well use the word they mean since chances are good he is going to sue them soon any way.
You really haven’t been paying much attention, have you? I can’t find it in my trump bible. No, I’m old. I just have never seen it as blatantly racist from multiple channels of the highest office. I have never seen Reagan try to end voter and civil rights. The demonization of Black and brown people is normalized to an extent even you have to recognize. In the clips from his Camp Pendleton highway bombing speech he rails about DEI (in front of a unit full of minorities). Dude’s obviously a racist nazi. The flag’s probably going to have a bunch of crosses over the Punisher skull, and a border of logos from Donny’s largest corporate donors. They already released it. It’s got this “optical illusion” of a swastika right in the middle that no one could possibly miss. Unless you need to deny it in front of the media. It truly is magic. Perfect.
