The prize was given to María Corina Machado for her advocacy for democracy. Experts were unsurprised by Trump’s failure to win, citing his disregard for international institutions and lack of advancement of fellowship among nations as reasons. Trump was nominated by several people, including prominent figures like Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, however, many nominations were submitted after the deadline.

Donald Trump didn’t receive the Nobel Peace Prize. Experts say he had “no chance” at winning. It’s pretty clear, isn’t it? Honestly, the consensus seems to be that there was never even a remote possibility of him being awarded the Nobel Peace Prize. You don’t need a panel of experts to tell you that someone who actively engages in actions that undermine peace and stability wouldn’t be a suitable candidate.
Let’s be frank, the whole idea seems absurd. The Nobel Peace Prize is intended for individuals who have made significant contributions to promoting peace and understanding between nations. Looking at Trump’s actions and rhetoric, it’s hard to find any evidence of such contributions. In fact, quite the opposite. He has been involved in actions that have had quite the opposite effect.
The world is definitely worse off with him in it and that alone disqualifies him, one would think. He has been involved in actions that would certainly make any committee think twice.
Furthermore, it’s important to remember the timeline. Nominations for the prize closed months ago, at a time when Trump was still facing a lot of legal troubles and political challenges. By then, any chance was gone, just as his chances in any other prestigious field were gone, too. Let’s be honest, the Prize is awarded for extraordinary achievements, not for attempting them.
Then, consider the overall tone of his political career. He has often been accused of stoking division and hostility, both domestically and internationally. His policies and statements have frequently been criticized for causing friction and exacerbating conflicts rather than resolving them. The actions have spoken volumes.
The entire situation seems to be based on a misunderstanding of what the Nobel Peace Prize actually represents. It’s not a popularity contest or an award for simply being a world leader. It’s a recognition of specific actions and achievements that promote peace. It’s about ending wars, not starting them; returning hostages, not taking them. It’s about promoting fraternity, not division.
It’s also a reflection of the political climate and the international community’s values. The committee, made up of people with “dignity and self-respect”, is not going to award someone who is actively undermining those values, and is clearly on the wrong side of history.
Frankly, it’s a bit bizarre that this is even a topic of discussion. It’s almost as if some people are simply trying to stir up controversy, or maybe the idea that he would win is something that they will use as fuel to stoke more division. In any case, the simple reality is that Donald Trump was never going to win the Nobel Peace Prize. It’s not a snub. He simply wasn’t a viable candidate.
