Trump, 79, grudgingly mumbles that he really can’t run again, and it’s a phrase that’s instantly met with a mix of reactions, from relieved sighs to skeptical glances. The whole thing feels less like a definitive declaration and more like a carefully crafted performance, a dance between what he *says* and what he might *do*. Of course, his famous “we’ll see what happens” tag-on is a dead giveaway, like a wink that tells you the show isn’t over. It’s a pretty safe bet that his inner circle are already scrambling to explore every possible loophole and maneuver, maybe even considering the unconstitutional.
Has anyone ever truly seen him accept defeat? Not really. If he was absolutely sure he’d be around to claim a third term, you can bet his tune would be wildly different. His ego couldn’t handle losing to someone like Obama. The news is just smoke and mirrors, a distraction from what’s really happening. It’s too early to be talking about 2028. He has to wait before the opposition gets too much time to prepare a counter-argument.
It’s very un-Trump-like to admit defeat, right? It just doesn’t fit his brand. It’s hard to believe this statement. Maybe there is something else going on. Maybe, he’s not planning to run again, but not leave office. If there aren’t any elections, he won’t have to run… If we were a nation of laws, he should have been barred from running after the attempted coup on January 6th, where he encouraged his supporters to invade the capitol. If we follow this path, then it appears the real issue is not the ability to run again, but whether he is able to avoid an election.
Then there is the talk of bending the Constitution. They can’t change it, but they can bend it. They are already planning for the future. The next presidential election will likely pit a MAGA candidate against a Democrat. As Trump has done before, he’ll immediately accuse the Dems of cheating. If the Democrats win, they might misuse an existing measure to seize control. Trump will remain right where he is. If the MAGA candidate wins, Trump could easily become a “premier advisor.” He could be the Secretary of State. The wording “run” is key. They will find a way to appoint him.
It’s all just another example of how this administration behaves. The next election is not important. Any Democrat elected will have the building torn down. Stop pretending that any word out of this man’s mouth is in any way tethered to reality. He always says both things and does what he wants while we argue about which one he “really” means. Don’t be fooled. He is clearly trying to run again. If they try any of this, they will probably get away with it. Let him run again, so we can watch him lose to the man he always compares himself to. We need to focus on today, not on the future.
He’ll try anyway. He doesn’t appear to be a guy that can be told “no.” Steve Bannon says that Donald is the vehicle to bring fascism. Maybe they’ll try to install him anyway. Nothing motivates narcissists more than being told they cannot do something. This statement does not matter. The goal is an extended second term, probably by declaring a national emergency and canceling the elections. Or he knows he’s about to die or will be gravely ill soon. Thinking about this dude jogging is actually funny. He’s too old, not because of the rules. He would change the rules if he was younger.
The news is annoying. The President of the US doesn’t understand the Constitution of the US. This entire administration is a dumpster fire. This statement does not matter. The devil on one shoulder and the angel is missing. He’s in a clear state of mental and physical decline. He probably hasn’t been able to run since he was a teenager. High ranking republicans need to be very clear on he can’t have a third term, not that he can’t run again.
