The US Ambassador to the UN, Dorothy Shea, affirmed the United States’ commitment to defending NATO territory following a Russian drone incursion into Poland earlier in the week. The incident, involving 19 drones shot down by NATO aircraft, marks the first instance of Russian military hardware being destroyed on a NATO member state’s territory since the full-scale invasion of Ukraine. While Russia denies responsibility, Poland presented evidence of Russian lettering on the downed drone. The US has also expressed concern over increased Russian strikes on Ukraine following recent diplomatic efforts, including a joint statement condemning Moscow’s actions.

Zelenskyy: Putin wants to occupy all of Ukraine.
It seems pretty straightforward, doesn’t it? The core of the matter is that Zelenskyy, the President of Ukraine, is warning that Vladimir Putin has ambitions to occupy the entirety of Ukraine. That’s a chilling statement, to be sure.
Putin: I want to occupy all of Ukraine.
Well, there’s no sugarcoating it. The confirmation comes straight from the horse’s mouth, or rather, from the man himself. It seems Putin, directly or indirectly, has made it clear that his intentions extend to taking over the whole of Ukraine. This isn’t some subtle inference; it’s a stated goal.
Europe: Putin wants to occupy all of Ukraine.
And it’s not just Ukraine and Russia. The European continent, watching the unfolding tragedy, seems to share the same grim assessment. The consensus, unfortunately, is that Putin’s designs involve the complete occupation of Ukraine. It’s a narrative that aligns across the board, painting a clear picture of the stakes.
Trump: Putin wants peace and love. Putin wants to occupy all of Europe.
This is where things get…complicated. It seems the former US President offers a contrasting perspective, saying Putin wants peace, yet also suggesting a broader occupation. The inherent contradiction is a bit jarring, isn’t it? It’s like trying to reconcile a friendly handshake with a looming threat. Then again, maybe the confusion arises due to some underlying motivation, or perhaps a different interpretation of the facts.
I really wonder how this stupid war is going to end. Well, duh, he’s made it pretty clear with the whole invasion and all. Isn’t that already implied? I think he wants that whole region.
The sentiment expressed is echoed by many. The invasion itself speaks volumes. It’s hard not to see the aim for something more than just a limited land grab. The intent appears to be a complete takeover, or at the very least, a significant reshuffling of the region.
Putin thought Ukraine will be push over and Europe next but of course it didn’t turn out the way he envisioned. Was that ever in doubt? I don’t understand..
Putin’s initial expectations seem to have been based on a miscalculation. The belief that Ukraine would be a pushover, followed by a potential incursion into Europe, appears to have been his initial plan. But it hasn’t turned out that way.
Well, I guess he wouldn’t be doing this job if he wasn’t constantly pointing it out to the dumb dumbs “The same thing we do every night, Pinky—try to take over the world!”. – VVP Uh…yeah? We felt that was the goal, yes. Pretty sure that’s why everyone was so concerned.
The comparison to Pinky and the Brain is fitting, if a little darkly comedic. There’s a sense that the goal is almost cartoonishly evil, but the reality is undeniably grim. It’s a reminder that sometimes the obvious is the truth.
Because some idiots on the other side of the Atlantic didn’t get the message yet We already knew. This is no surprise.
The frustration at those who didn’t grasp the situation early on is palpable. The invasion, the rhetoric, the actions—they all pointed in the same direction. For many, it wasn’t a surprise at all.
Unfortunately, some people with a lot of power and influence think otherwise. This is so fucked up. what gave it away? Oh no! Anyway…
The lack of universal understanding and agreement is quite frustrating. One gets the sense of disbelief, of anger, at the situation.
Hearing this isn’t really special any more. We hear this every week. American here, This is the perfect time for EU to step up and become a 2ndary super power.
The announcement has become commonplace. The repetition has led to a sense of despair. The idea of the EU becoming a secondary superpower seems appropriate.
Usa frankly sucks at being world’s policeman. We have failed since Vietnam, south America, Iran, Iraq, Afghanistan, etc. We’re not good at this.
The United States’ track record as a global enforcer is questioned. The failures of the past are cited as evidence of a poor record. The role, it seems, is not one that the USA particularly excels at.
We have over 80 bases in Europe! We need to get out of Japan and Korea. What the heck are we doing? We just cant help ourselves. Russian boys on standby to satisfy Trump’s bum needs. But somehow Zelensky is risking WW3 Russia probably couldn’t occupy the entirety of Ukraine anyway even if they wanted to..
The presence of American bases in Europe and elsewhere are discussed as if they are a burden or a sign of weakness. And it’s quite telling. The notion that the US should not be interfering is, in itself, part of the discussion.
Obviously USA is currently compromised/maybe even occupied by a Russian asset, but how is Europe not able to do more to help Ukraine? They simply do not have the arms to do it? I just do not understand the tepid response from Europe given how critical the situation is for Ukraine and thus for Europe’s interests.
There is some criticism of the USA as being an asset of Russia, though that isn’t clear. But here comes the main question: Why can’t Europe do more? The response has been described as tepid.
edit: Russia has N. Korean mercenaries, where do we find a lot of mercenaries for Ukraine and fast? Yup, Eurocrats are soft and squidgy (what pootin thinks) And Alaska, because it’s historically Russian.
This is a call for more assistance. Some perceive Europe as weak. The historical claim on Alaska is interesting, although also disturbing.
How is Putin’s imperial fantasy news? He was trying to seize Kiev three years ago Putin is not far death. Medvedev is the next crazy. Desperate psychopaths will line up to keep their wealth. Russian things.
The narrative continues. Putin’s intentions have been clear for some time. Also, there’s discussion about the leadership that might follow Putin.
Putin is 72 and the average lifespan in russia is also 72. It can only end with loss of russia. There is no other way. Short pause is a bad desition for Europe, it would let russia to regain its military power and strike harder.
The age and potential end of Putin are also discussed. The overall outlook does not seem good.
The frontline collapses on either side, Ukraine leadership breaks to the terror bombing, or revolts in Russia. None of these are close to happening rn. It was stupid for anyone to believe when Trump said it was possible to simply negotiate an end right now. Putin’s dream is the resurrection of the USSR with him owning all of it.
The possible outcomes are discussed. The idea of negotiating an end to the conflict is shot down. The main focus is on Putin and his goals.
If the EU is to be the secondary superpower, and the US is to withdraw from international commitments, then who is the primary power? Amзriкansкi here! Just because Russia wouldn’t be successful doesn’t mean we should just discount them completely.
This is where the conversation becomes more realistic. The potential outcomes are discussed.
I think they would definitely try, it would be a costly endeavor tho, both in blood and treasure. A lot of people would suffer and Ukraine would be set back decades.
That point, even with Russia’s losses, should not be dismissed. Russia’s potential plans are discussed.
Russia wouldn’t win a war against even a handful of NATO countries but even them losing would be fairly unpleasant experience for the countries that win. So, a huge problem is defensive treaties and alliances that have tied a lot of hands. What you aren’t understanding is that there is a global network of defensive treaties that fall like dominoes if someone acts out of turn.
The complications of a possible conflict are mentioned. This includes the defensive alliances.
Putin illegally invaded a country for a very specific reason with nebulous legal protection. Europe – is unable to do more directly because of the existing treaties. They can indirectly help – which a lot of countries are doing by manufacturing weapons with the intention to sell to Ukraine.
This is where the restrictions on the EU’s actions are explained. They must deal with defensive treaties.
Now, the defensive treaties I am referring to is NATO. In general, NATO it is a defensive alliance with a treaty obligation only to defend its member states against armed attack. Therefore, NATO cannot be obligated to defend a non-NATO country attacked by another nation.
The limitations of NATO are stated. It cannot get involved directly.
Of the members in NATO: Belgium, Canada, Denmark, France, Iceland, Italy, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, United Kingdom, United States, Greece, Türkiye, Germany, Spain, Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland, Bulgaria, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Albania, Croatia, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Finland, & Sweden.
The member nations are listed.
Now, which OTHER European country can throw their weight behind Ukraine and get involved in a Russia/North Korean invasion? It will trigger involvement and a defensive treaty between Russia, NK, Belarus, and Iran. No obviously, Obama did what he could to soften Iran’s part of the alliance by way of the Nuclear Weapons Treaty – which was successful until Russian asset, Donald Trump did everything he could to undo the progress – and now it’s damned near impossible to strike Russia without being a target to 2.5 nuclear states.
The discussion then turns to other potential actors. The point is made that these other actors will be involved.
(Thanks Obama). Because EU is weak. They they are like dogs following US. If Trump say one day we will send troops then suddenly every EU country will say we are sending troops as well They simply do not have arms to do it. Many are also scared to provoke russia as a nuclear power. Yes, Putin wont back down because of virtually nothing, he has to be dominated by pure force.
The weaknesses of the EU are then stated. They are limited by a lack of arms. They are afraid.
Like the sick puppy he is. The guy is a monster but he is right about that. Our politicians are weak spineless fucks. Marking Moscow with the destruction of its icons (bridges, St Basil’s, the Crumblin’ of the Kremlin, etc) would target the psyche of Russians. Let THEM do the removal of the cause of the war.
The general lack of action leads to anger and disgust. The political class is criticized.
Putin doesnt drink or smoke as much as the average russian. He will live, unfortunately that does not matter he still will have best healthcare to make him live long just like trump and biden etc…. It’s higher when you’re rich and powerful. Majority of russians are some version of putin. After putin another putin will come.
The life expectancy is brought up again. Putin will have special healthcare. And so on.
If the modern world’s future rests solely on one man dying of old age, then we’re in deep shit. Dont forget he was recently discussing with Xi about organs replacement, so I thing his top doctors are working on that. I heard he will live till he’s 130 so that’s in the high end of the scale !!!
The potential death of Putin is discussed.
Russian puppet detected!!! Or it’s the most not clever comment I have read today. Rofl “Stop resisting” Being the leader of a country, especially as a dictator, is one of the most stressful jobs one can have though. And standing further away from the windows.
There is now some satire. The discussion goes on to a discussion of the pressure on Putin. Also, the comment ends with a comment about windows.
