Consider the litany of divisive and often hateful statements that have emanated from him. He’s expressed and amplified bigoted views targeting gay people, Black Americans, Muslims, immigrants, and anyone who doesn’t fit into his narrow definition of “American.” He’s promoted conspiracy theories, spread misinformation, and emboldened extremist elements. This isn’t just political disagreement; it’s the deliberate weaponization of language to demonize and dehumanize his opponents.
The reaction to tragedies further illustrates the problem. When a Democratic state legislator was assassinated, along with her husband and dog, there was no immediate outrage or condemnation from Trump or his allies. Their silence spoke volumes. However, when an event occurs on their side of the political divide, the response is immediate and often fueled by the same divisive tactics that he employs.
