‘Maybe we should go after you’ Trump threatens ABC reporter asking about free speech. The whole situation is pretty stark, isn’t it? It really feels like there’s no filter anymore, that everything is just laid bare. And the most unsettling part? A significant chunk of the country appears to be applauding this behavior. It’s as if they are enthusiastically embracing everything – the authoritarianism, the racism, the oppression, the violence, even the darkest corners of society. They’re practically screaming for more. The media, the big networks, played a dangerous game by glossing over the issues to get those clicks and the tax breaks.
Now, it seems like they’re in danger of being shut down within a year because they don’t fall in line. It’s a clear display of blatant, open fascism, and it is very disturbing. The idea of the United States as a free country is being severely tested. If another president had said something similar, the reaction would be very different. There’s a sense of a growing divide, where those who support this administration are seen as betraying the core values of the country. They seem to disregard the fundamental rights and freedoms that are supposed to be at the heart of the American identity.
It’s almost as if there’s a carefully crafted plan B: start a civil war to silence those who dare to hold them accountable. It’s a dangerous path, and it all started with the way reporters are treated. Reporters aren’t standing together. He intimidates one, and nobody steps in to help. It is a clear indicator of fear and a sign of a deteriorating environment where people are afraid to speak their minds.

There is an intention to make criticism illegal and the people in place to enforce it. The situation has reached a point where the principles that the country stands for, the standards of conduct, are being eroded.
This all creates an atmosphere of authoritarianism that’s creeping forward. If this is the way the current administration acts, what would another one look like? What does it mean for the future of democratic ideals? The fact that this is coming from the president of the United States is chilling. The administration seems to have a list of what’s acceptable, what’s required, and what’s not. You must mourn, you must agree, and you must protect certain individuals. The idea of silencing all media outlets is a terrifying thought. It would mean that there’s no one to voice disagreement and the dissent won’t be shared with the American people.
