It’s almost as if his legal team finally managed to pry his fingers from his phone, or perhaps they just took the keys to the car away from him. And let’s be clear, we’re talking about some truly disturbing material here, the kind that forces you to confront the ugliness of human behavior.
The most obvious thing, and the one that seems to be sticking, is that check. A massive check, allegedly from Trump, associated with the purchase of a woman. The accompanying note is, frankly, stomach-churning, referencing “early talents with money + women!” It’s the kind of language that makes your skin crawl, the kind you’d expect from someone with a deeply twisted view of power and human worth. And the fact that the “deal” was supposedly managed by Epstein, someone with a documented history of sex trafficking, adds another layer of disgust. How do you explain this away? Is it a joke? It’s pretty hard to play off something like that as a joke without looking guilty.
The Republican Party’s efforts to shield him from justice, which is the most concerning point, really drives the nail into the coffin, doesn’t it? When confronted with something so blatant, so damning, the default response shouldn’t be deflection, or whataboutism, or digging up past transgressions of the left. The only real path to moving forward is complete honesty. But we’re a long way from that, it seems. The go-to tactics appear to be the denial, the calls of “hoax,” and the use of power to bury the truth. It is maddening to witness the lengths people go to defend someone, to the point of excusing, or even denying, the allegations. It is so obvious that the walls are closing in.
The contrast between the previous outrage over Bill Clinton and the current silence on Trump is hard to ignore. The hypocrisy is just staggering. The same people who were so incensed by a consensual affair are now perfectly fine with a man who was a close friend of a known sex trafficker. It’s a stunning display of moral flexibility. The level of denial is something to behold, too. They’re either utterly blind or willingly participating in a cover-up. It’s pretty clear he understands, in a way, that this is the thing that might actually get him.
The sheer volume of evidence, the consistency of the accusations, the damning nature of the birthday book, everything is hard to refute. He should admit it, so we can move on, it’s as simple as that. His followers’ devotion to him is undeniable. It’s almost as if they see themselves in him, and they would accept anything he is accused of. Their support and praise for him is beyond comprehension. And those who are defenders in your lives you should watch.
This lack of any sort of denial is a strong indication that he has finally realized he can’t spin his way out of this. There is no denial. There is nothing but an eerie silence and the anticipation of the next disaster. Maybe his legal team finally convinced him to shut his mouth.
The fact that Trump hasn’t denied the book’s claims or addressed his presence in the book is a big tell, given his usual behavior. Even if he was to attempt a denial, at this point, it is doubtful many would believe it.
