It’s a stark reminder, a chilling echo of historical patterns, as we’ve seen before with groups that started as fringe elements, seizing on societal anxieties and promising simple solutions. It’s a dangerous game, playing on fears and frustrations to consolidate power. And frankly, it’s all a bit insane.
The parallels, the opportunistic seizing of a tragedy for political gain – it’s all too familiar. We’re talking about a situation where a tragic event is used as a pretext. This is why Democrats/liberals/progressives needed and need to work hard now to build a robust alternative media network and wealthy people on the left need to grow a spine and fund it. Mainstream media is showing that they won’t even bother going to court and that they will just fold at the slightest pressure.
The need for a strong, alternative media that can withstand this kind of pressure is urgent. People on the left and progressives need their own voices that won’t be afraid to be controversial. Trump, despite his age, is still in charge, and he’s using every tool at his disposal. It’s a chilling scenario, and the hypocrisy is staggering. The irony is almost unbearable: the very people who claimed to champion free speech are now the ones trying to limit it. The MAGA crowd is quite conflicted about this.
