This type of framing has historical parallels, such as the Reichstag fire, where a pivotal event was used to justify an authoritarian power grab. The speed with which this narrative emerged is also significant.
The first attempts to shape the story were immediately transparent. Quickly trying to pin it on transgender individuals, and pushing conspiracy theories, before the facts were even established. The rush to create this narrative, and the swift dismissal of evidence that didn’t fit the mold, is a worrying pattern.
