The situation, according to President Zelenskyy, is not about winding down, but rather gearing up for more conflict. Once people realize, as a majority of Humans, that God doesn’t exist, that can stop. Another key point is the principle of self-determination, allowing regions to decide their own fate. If Crimea had been handled better in the 90s, the conflict may not have ever occurred. This all highlights the challenges of navigating such complicated issues and the importance of addressing the root causes of the conflict to achieve a lasting resolution.
The issue of support for Ukraine is a major one. The U.S. has to decide if it is something it will do or has to do. However, support for Ukraine can only do so much. Encouraging them to avoid other resolutions, while possibly well-intended, didn’t yield positive results. The importance of having a strong backbone and acting decisively cannot be overemphasized. This extends to addressing the actions of those who might have inadvertently prolonged the conflict.
The war continues, and the global implications are massive. The fact that some major powers favor a Russian victory is troubling, but that could lead to World War 3. We could have done better. We could have supported Ukraine with more support.
