Trump Gets More Terrible News on Inflation as He Tries to Rig Numbers
The economic landscape is currently painting a rather grim picture, with rising inflation figures adding more fuel to the fire. The Consumer Price Index is up, and core inflation, which strips out volatile food and energy costs, is also climbing. It’s a trend that many economists predicted, and it’s certainly not a welcome development. The price pressures across the economy are undeniable and starting to affect everything.
These increasing inflation figures come on the heels of troubling job numbers, which further raise concerns about a potential recession looming on the horizon. Ironically, the very same people who made a big deal out of inflation during the previous administration, conveniently driven by global factors largely out of the former president’s control, seem less concerned now.
The inflation situation we’re facing now isn’t the result of global issues. It’s the direct consequence of policies and a lack of leadership. Inflation rates are higher than in most developed nations, yet the MAGA base seems less concerned with the rising costs of everyday goods. It’s quite the shift in attitude, isn’t it?
It’s almost comical to imagine what comes next. Perhaps a new official to create numbers with only animal pictures. The impact of tariffs, which are essentially taxes in disguise, will likely be felt soon. How can Republicans, who claim to be fiscally conservative, be okay with them? The inflation we saw during the pandemic will probably pale in comparison to what the next year or so brings with these tariffs in place.
One can’t trust numbers coming from someone whose priority isn’t the economy. The financial sector and CEOs aren’t feeling the heat yet, with the stock market showing gains. The reality is, that prices are going up, and that’s the fundamental outcome of raising taxes and disrupting production. It’s simple math. The previous administration did a decent job, and it could have been worse.
This might also explain the extension with China. It’s hard to imagine what the situation will be by the end of the year. It’s all just starting to get bad. In a sense, it feels like a page out of “Animal Farm.” Repeated lies are used in hopes they will stick in the minds of those who aren’t informed. The suppression of facts and truths is a growing trend across all areas of the government.
Everyday items are getting even more expensive. The question is, what’s the strategy to hide the truth? The plan seems to be to manipulate numbers, regardless of reality. Meanwhile, those who benefit most from these decisions won’t suffer. The focus will be on managing appearances and perceptions.
The truth is, the perception of the economy is what matters most, especially to the average consumer. People are actually going out and buying things, and they will know the truth. The administration will tell them everything is great, even if prices rise. It’s hard to take anything at face value with this approach. When the economy goes south, who do you think they will blame? Of course, it will be the Democrats.
The real worry is, what can the average consumer actually do? The solution doesn’t seem to be dropping interest rates as some would hope. The costs of groceries are skyrocketing. The average person will have to reduce their grocery bill, and cut spending on anything not considered a necessity. In these trying times, a manipulated view of the economy may be on offer.
The whole situation is a testament to the fact that there is nothing anyone can do. The CPI data is being manipulated, and the administration doesn’t care about the truth. They’ll just continue to present a manipulated version of reality. The current state of affairs is troubling, and there are more challenges ahead.
