A recent UMass Amherst national poll revealed that a significant majority of Americans, about 70 percent, believe Trump is not handling the Epstein case well. Only a mere 18 percent felt he was doing a good job. That’s a pretty resounding statement, isn’t it?
A huge part of the concern stems from the belief that information is being hidden. Among people who are familiar with the Epstein case, a substantial 63 percent think the Trump administration is actively concealing important details. Even more striking is that a whopping 81 percent of those who believe information is being hidden place the blame squarely on Trump. It’s clear that there’s a serious lack of trust here.
And the suspicions don’t end there. Despite the administration’s insistence that no list of Epstein’s clients exists, a significant 70 percent of those polled believe such a list does indeed exist. It’s worth noting, too, that Attorney General Pam Bondi, despite initially claiming to have the list on her desk, later stated that there was no evidence of an incriminating “client list” after an “exhaustive review.” This flip-flopping and inconsistency certainly raises eyebrows and fuels the distrust.
Trump’s reaction to the criticism, rather than allaying fears, seems to have exacerbated them. He lashed out on Truth Social, calling the scrutiny a “SCAM” and dismissing his former supporters who voiced concerns. This sort of response only seems to confirm the idea that he’s got something to hide, doesn’t it?
The poll results are particularly notable when you consider the widespread awareness of the Epstein case. An overwhelming 96 percent of Americans have read, seen, or heard something about it. This high level of awareness means that these issues are front and center in the minds of the public. People are paying attention, and they’re not happy with what they see.
It’s interesting to consider the motivations of those who still support Trump in the face of these issues. While some might not believe the allegations, others might be prioritizing other factors, such as political affiliation or policy preferences.
