Already Pardoned by Trump, Jan. 6 Rioters Push for Compensation

It’s just unbelievable, isn’t it? After everything that happened on January 6th, after the damage, the violence, the blatant attack on our democracy, some of the people involved are now demanding compensation. And not just any compensation, but financial reparations, basically asking to be paid for their actions. It’s infuriating, especially considering that many of them were already pardoned by the former President. It’s like they’re trying to rewrite history, portraying themselves as victims, while in reality, they participated in a shameful assault on our nation.

The audacity is truly breathtaking. To think that they now believe they deserve money for their “suffering” is beyond comprehension. These were individuals who stormed the Capitol, disrupted the peaceful transfer of power, and put countless lives at risk. They should be held accountable, not rewarded with our tax dollars. It is akin to a thief asking for restitution after being caught stealing. They were given pardons, which in itself is a significant act of leniency. A pardon is a formal forgiveness for a crime. By accepting a pardon, one is essentially admitting guilt. It is not a get-out-of-jail-free card that also comes with a financial payout.

One of the craziest elements is the suggested mechanism for doling out this compensation. There’s talk of creating a special panel, similar to the one set up for 9/11 victims, to assess individual cases and determine financial awards. The fact that some are suggesting that Jeanine Pirro, a figure known for her partisan commentary, should oversee the panel is equally outrageous. It just seems like they want to take what they were charged with and turn it into a political tool.

The demands being made are also telling. Some, like Enrique Tarrio, the leader of the Proud Boys, are calling for compensation for the rioters and their families, as well as the firing of anyone involved in prosecuting the cases. Others, like Ryan Nichols, have doubled down on their actions, even expressing a desire to repeat them. This not only demonstrates a complete lack of remorse but also reveals a chilling disregard for law and order. This isn’t about justice; it’s about rewriting the narrative.

It’s essential to understand that by accepting a pardon, these individuals acknowledge their guilt. This is not about innocence; it’s about forgiveness for the crime they committed. They’re not victims; they’re people who broke the law and were held accountable. The suggestion that they should be treated like victims of a tragedy, entitled to compensation, is insulting to the very idea of justice.

This is a perfect example of how this administration will try to manipulate the system to reward its supporters. And the fact that this is all done with taxpayer money makes it even worse. It feels like we’re on the road to enabling vigilantes.

The idea of using our tax money to compensate those who attacked the Capitol is appalling. The only compensation they deserve is the consequence for their actions, and the social consequences of the shame of being involved in this attack.

The fact that these individuals are even considering this is a sign of how out of touch they are. The party of no reparations suddenly wants reparations. Are these people that entitled, not only to have pardons but also to want more money from the victims? It boils my blood to hear about it. It is not right. They committed crimes. They are guilty. They were pardoned. The end.

If this gets paid, then the injured DC police officers should sue them. The only way this would get paid is if the Justice Department doesn’t put up any kind of defense. This is the epitome of hypocrisy and a gross misallocation of resources. It’s a slap in the face to those who suffered from their actions and to everyone who believes in the rule of law.

This is about more than just money. It’s about a fundamental distortion of reality. It’s about attempting to legitimize a violent attack on democracy and to rewrite history to serve a political agenda. Those that were involved are domestic terrorists. And the only thing that they deserve is scorn.

I do not understand this world anymore. The only compensation these insurrectionists should be given is scorn. If they commit another crime, then they should receive another sentence. This is a mockery of justice. This is a disgusting attempt to rewrite history and distort reality. I sincerely hope this never happens.
