Trump Tells Supporters Don’t Waste ‘Time and Energy’ on Epstein List As MAGA Outrage Billows
The call to ignore the Epstein list has certainly stirred the pot, hasn’t it? It’s almost as if a carefully constructed dam has sprung a leak, and the flood of outrage from MAGA supporters is starting to swell. The advice to not “waste Time and Energy on Jeffrey Epstein” is a clear indication of the damage control in play. And it’s not going unnoticed.
The sheer audacity of the statement, given the well-documented connections between Trump and Epstein, is, to put it mildly, intriguing. We’re talking about a man who was known to have flown on Epstein’s private plane, whose name appears in the flight logs, and who has been repeatedly linked to Epstein’s circle. To simply dismiss the list as something not worth paying attention to is a move that’s resonating with many as a tacit admission of guilt. It’s a classic example of the Streisand effect – trying to bury something only serves to amplify its reach and impact.
The reaction is understandable, especially considering the expectations of the MAGA base. Many of them were likely hoping for a dramatic reveal, a reckoning for those they perceived as enemies. Instead, they’re being told to move along, that there’s nothing to see here. It’s hard to imagine that this approach is going to be effective with those who were hoping for something different, for any real consequences.
The timing of this directive is also noteworthy. The release of the Epstein documents, and the names contained within, has generated a wave of interest and a lot of media attention. The files themselves are out there, available for anyone to view and they do include Trump’s name. Given this, it seems odd to discourage looking into this.
Furthermore, it’s tough to ignore the irony here. Trump’s base often demands transparency, especially when it comes to perceived corruption and wrongdoing. Yet, here we have a situation where the head of their movement is seemingly telling them to look away from potential evidence of serious misdeeds. This dichotomy is bound to create a crisis of conscience, leading to disaffection among some.
The question on everyone’s mind: Is this move going to work? The answer is probably complex. Some in the MAGA base will undoubtedly fall in line, accepting the narrative without question. They may see this as a strategic maneuver, a way to protect Trump from what they consider a politically motivated attack. However, it’s also likely that a significant segment of the base is feeling betrayed. Many might be questioning why they should follow a leader who appears to be hiding something.
The phrase “Don’t look behind the curtain!” resonates strongly here. It’s a blatant attempt to control the narrative and dictate what the public should focus on. It suggests a deliberate attempt to distract from the substance of the Epstein files, to keep the spotlight away from certain individuals. Such an attempt at manipulation is unlikely to succeed.
The situation has the potential to damage Trump’s hold on his followers. The more evidence that emerges connecting Trump to Epstein, the more difficult it will be to ignore. The denial of the list, in this scenario, may be the loudest form of acknowledgment.
The suggestion that the base move on and talk about the Trump assassination anniversary is likely to be ignored by many who are more interested in the Epstein list and its revelations. What is certain is that this latest development will only fuel the fire of outrage that has already been lit.
