By Matt Underwood MAGA Is Tearing Itself Apart Over Jeffrey Epstein. This is the core issue, and the fallout is already unfolding. The Department of Justice recently declared Epstein’s death a suicide, and that no client list or blackmail operation existed, contradicting years of MAGA claims about a vast elite cover-up. This is a major blow to the narrative. For years, the narrative has centered around the idea that Epstein’s files would expose corrupt elites, particularly Democrats. Now, with Trump’s own DOJ denying these claims and allies backtracking, deep internal divisions are erupting within the movement. This is a real test.
Some hardcore believers are struggling to adjust. They’ve built their worldviews around these conspiracy theories, and now the rug is being pulled out from under them. I don’t think that it is enough to change minds, but it would be interesting if they were tearing themselves apart. However, I fear the strength of this cult is too strong. I suspect the crazies will soon rally around something else, but that will require a lot of work to set up the new narrative. There is much to do.
The immediate talking points are coming into focus. The go-to defense seems to be, “If Trump was in there, Biden would have released the files… and he didn’t, so Trump is super innocent.” But the original conspiracy was that Biden was corruptly protecting all the Democrats on Epstein’s list. So, either Trump is corrupt and covering for pedophiles, or he’s one himself. The fact is that there’s no legal obligation to release these records, and the reality is that Biden’s administration did manage to convict Ghislaine Maxwell and keep her alive, while Trump’s administration is linked to Epstein’s death.
This is a problem for the core belief system. MAGA/QAnon is built on the projection of Republican pedophilia problems onto Democrats. The promise of validating all the support for vile atrocities is being shattered, and the people most indoctrinated are having a hard time squaring the circle in their belief system.
This is what happens in a cult. There’s an internal war, then you see spin-off cults form that don’t believe the same things, along with a lot of disengagement.
The reality is that they have a long history of supporting a man accused of sexual abuse. They actively seek to legalize child marriages. They have voted for a pedophile multiple times.
MAGA figures that were promoting the idea of a vast Epstein conspiracy and deep state cover-up, are now suddenly forced to walk back those statements or even deny them altogether. The media hasn’t had time to tell them what to think yet. This is a narrative that only serves to strengthen their cult. There isn’t any need for the hyenas from *The Lion King* to even begin.
Even if the real list is released, nothing will be done to those implicated. This is a cover-up to protect everyone involved. This should be tearing up the entire political establishment, but it won’t. MAGA doesn’t care.
It seems MAGA is starting to realize that Trump only serves his own interests, along with rewarding his rich friends and family, so long as they also serve him. He doesn’t care about MAGA. This is the “find out” stage, and the repercussions are unfolding.
They are simply being trained on how to excuse their leaders very obvious ties with a very obvious provider of child sex workers. This is all about defending pedophiles, and the potential fall of these elites is right in front of them. How does that taste, MAGA?
They will vote for the next GOP candidate. It’s sad.
