Ohio Congressman Jim Jordan is scheduled to be deposed in a civil suit concerning the sex abuse scandal at Ohio State University, where he served as assistant wrestling coach. The deposition stems from allegations that Jordan was aware of sexual assaults perpetrated by Dr. Richard Strauss but failed to protect student wrestlers. The plaintiffs, who include former students, allege that they discussed the assaults with Jordan and other staff members. Jordan has consistently denied any involvement in the alleged cover-up, though survivors like Steve Snyder-Hill express skepticism given the proximity of Jordan’s locker to Strauss.

Rep. Jim Jordan may be deposed over OSU sex abuse scandal, and honestly, it’s about time. The fact that he’s managed to dodge this for so long is pretty astonishing, even in today’s political climate. One can’t help but wonder, where can we even watch this? This is the same Jim Jordan who received the Presidential Medal of Freedom from Trump. You’d think even the most ardent MAGA supporters would see the hypocrisy when it comes to predators within their own ranks.
It’s incredible how these individuals seem to stick together. Will he just call it a hoax, blame the current administration, and try to slink away? It’s almost like they view power as a tool to oppress those weaker than them, a core tenet of their philosophy. Considering the company he keeps, it really shouldn’t be a surprise. And with that being said, the deposition should be revealing. We can probably expect a lot of: “I take the Fifth”, “Fifth Amendment”, “Fifth Amendment”, “I would love to testify but on the advice of counsel – fifth amendment”, and even a few “Fifth Amendment” thrown in for good measure.
Let’s be honest, this isn’t just about one person; it feels like a pattern. The fact that so many Republicans have been implicated in various sex crimes, from child molestation to possessing child pornography, is deeply disturbing. The list is truly extensive and paints a grim picture. This isn’t just a few bad apples; it seems like a rotten orchard. Given the history, it’s no surprise that Republicans seem to really love protecting sexual abusers and rapists.
The Surviving Ohio State documentary on HBO Max offers a glimpse into the extent of the abuse and the alleged inaction by university officials, including Rep. Jordan. It’s frankly heartbreaking to witness, and the fact that people in positions of power allegedly knew about these allegations and did nothing is infuriating.
Now that a deposition is a possibility, the expectation is for a PR nightmare for him. He will probably say he “doesn’t recall” anything. But the reality is there is a lot of evidence that is hard to ignore. Especially, since there are reports that he contacted the brother of a victim to try and get them to change their story. This will more than likely end up with him taking the fifth. The reason why Gym has been trying so hard to distance himself from this is clear.
