JD Vance will soon learn he is as disposable as Mike Pence. The parallels are striking; both men ascended to positions of power largely through association with Donald Trump, yet both now find their futures uncertain and potentially precarious. While Pence served as a more visible and, arguably, functional Vice President, even he proved ultimately dispensable once he refused to overturn the 2020 election results. This act of defiance, though lauded by some, sealed his fate within Trump’s circle.
JD Vance, however, seems to be playing a far less significant role. While Pence maintained a degree of public visibility and engaged in governmental duties, Vance’s contributions remain largely undefined and his presence often unnoticed. His recent gaffe at a White House event, fumbling a trophy, seems symbolic of his overall performance – clumsy and lacking substance. JD Vance’s attempts at unwavering loyalty, demonstrated by his shameless shilling for Trump, won’t necessarily save him. Trump’s history of discarding associates once they’ve outlived their usefulness is well-documented. He is a master manipulator who uses people and discards them without hesitation. Rudy Giuliani and Mike Lindell serve as stark reminders of this pattern. Loyalty to Trump doesn’t guarantee safety; functionality and utility do.
JD Vance’s strategic alliances, primarily with Thiel and his network, might offer a degree of insulation. However, even this powerful backing can’t fully guarantee his security. Thiel and his associates may ultimately view Vance as a pawn in a larger game, to be used and discarded as needed. The potential for Vance to be used as a figurehead in a post-Trump era, a theocratic leader, could ultimately lead to his downfall. This future scenario suggests a potentially catastrophic outcome for the country.
The question of whether Vance or Trump will fall first remains open. However, the evidence strongly suggests Vance’s position is far more fragile. Trump, despite his flaws and potential legal jeopardy, retains a significant level of control over the MAGA base. While Vance’s alliance with powerful figures provides a degree of support, it ultimately doesn’t guarantee his long-term survival in the ruthless political landscape. His perceived ineptitude and his lack of visible accomplishment suggest that his time in the spotlight might be exceptionally brief.
JD Vance’s ultimate fate is not simply a matter of political maneuvering; it reflects the broader pattern of disposability within Trump’s orbit. While Pence ultimately chose principle over loyalty, his defiance only earned him a place outside the inner circle. Vance, by contrast, seems to be embracing total subservience, a strategy that may prove to be just as ineffective in the long run. His lack of experience, his unproven political abilities, and his current marginalization within Trump’s inner circle point to the stark reality: he’s ultimately a tool, destined to be discarded the moment he is no longer needed.
