Trump’s proposed cabinet is a terrifying prospect, even for those who were used to the horrors of his first term. The 2017 cabinet was already filled with extreme figures, even for a Republican administration, with people like John Bolton considered too radical for previous administrations. But this time, it seems there are no remaining guardrails, no checks on his power. Even those who found Trump too extreme back then, like John Bolton, now seem too principled for the 2024 version.
The lack of qualifications and the sole emphasis on loyalty are deeply concerning. This is not about competence or experience; it’s about blind obedience to a man who has repeatedly proven himself unfit to hold office. Trump has no interest in governing; he just wants to be surrounded by “yes men” who will let him do whatever he wants, regardless of the consequences.
