This appointment, coupled with the departure of many conservative lawyers who refused to participate in Trump’s efforts to subvert the law, highlights the growing influence of MAGA loyalists within the Justice Department, a trend that poses a significant threat to the rule of law and democratic institutions.

The women who didn’t vote for Trump saw this coming. They knew what his rhetoric meant, the fear it would unleash. The women who did vote for him, well, they seem fine with it. It’s as if they were hoping for this very outcome. It’s terrifying to see the ugliness that’s been festering in the shadows for so long now brought to the surface, given a platform and a microphone. The warnings were there, clear as day, but so many people chose to ignore them. Now we’re all paying the price.
It’s hard to reconcile the hateful rhetoric and the acts of violence against women with the idea that this is somehow the “will of the people.” It’s as though the very fabric of society has been ripped apart. The men who were always lurking in the corners, waiting for their chance to act out their fantasies, have been emboldened. They feel empowered, like they’ve been given permission to do whatever they want. And it’s not just the men, it’s the women too. Those who were always complicit in the system, the ones who turned a blind eye to the mistreatment of women, they are now cheering on the violence, justifying it as “the will of the people.”
It’s heartbreaking to see what’s happening to our country. The people we thought were our allies, the people we thought we could trust, have shown their true colors. And it’s not just the blatant sexism and misogyny, it’s the chilling normalization of it all. It’s the sense of despair that settles in when you realize that this is the new reality, and there’s no clear path back from it.
The future feels bleak, and it’s hard to know what to do. We have to find a way to fight back, to resist the forces that are trying to silence us, to protect ourselves and our loved ones. But it feels like an uphill battle, and we’re losing ground with every passing day. We have to find a way to reclaim our voices, to fight for our rights, to ensure that our daughters don’t have to live in a world where this is considered normal. The road ahead is going to be long and hard, but we have to keep fighting. We have to keep pushing back against the darkness, even if it feels like we’re losing. For ourselves, for our daughters, for our future.
