Authoritarians like Trump thrive on fear, defeatism, and surrender. They want us to be paralyzed by doubt, to believe that there’s nothing we can do. They want us to accept their narrative of decline, to embrace the idea that our country is on the brink of collapse. But we cannot give them what they want.
It’s understandable to feel scared. Their rhetoric is designed to sow fear and division, to create an atmosphere of uncertainty and distrust. They weaponize words, spewing hatred, threats, and lies, hoping to intimidate and demoralize us. They want us to feel powerless, to believe that they hold all the cards.
But they don’t. They have no real power over us. They have no magic wand to rewrite our reality. The only power they have is the power we give them by surrendering to their fear tactics. We must recognize their game for what it is and refuse to play.
We need to be vigilant, but not paralyzed. We need to be prepared for the challenges ahead, but not consumed by fear. Their policies may hurt us, but their words should not. We must not allow them to control our minds or dictate our actions.
We need to remember that every right we have today was won by people who fought for it. We are the heirs to their legacy. They fought for our rights, and it’s our responsibility to defend them.
We are a nation built on the idea of democracy, on the principle of “We the People.” We have the power to change our course. It won’t be easy, but it is possible.
It’s time to stand up and resist. It’s time to fight for our democracy, our values, and our future. It’s time to show them that they don’t scare us. We are not afraid. We are Americans. We are strong. And we will not surrender.
